About the artist

Brooklyn-based multimedia artist Douglas McCurdy explores surrealism and abstraction through ordinary subject matters and daily life, creating art from his surroundings. He places objects in unexpected locations, reinterprets traditional scenes, and captures the overlooked and forgotten remnants of the city. By piecing together what the world presents to him, or placing elements where they don't typically belong, he challenges ordinary perceptions and creates art out of his life.
