About the artist
As a documentary photographer and explorer, my artistic practice is deeply rooted in capturing the stories of regions and neighborhoods that are often underexplored or avoided by most. I am driven by a passion for giving a voice to people who usually don't get exposure, shedding light on their unique experiences, struggles, and triumphs. My work involves immersing myself in these communities, building trust, and understanding the intricate dynamics at play. By focusing on these marginalized areas, I aim to challenge stereotypes and broaden perspectives. My commitment to this form of storytelling is not just about documenting; it's about fostering connections and empathy. I believe that by bringing these hidden narratives to the forefront, I can contribute to a more inclusive and compassionate world. Overall, my work as a documentary photographer is a journey of exploration, understanding, and advocacy. It's about venturing into the unknown and bringing back stories that inspire, inform, and bridge gaps between diverse human experiences.
About the artwork
A rider on his motorbike showing off his “grau” during one of the many infamous motorbike events inside the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Captured in low exposure, this image aims to reflect the sense of speed and adrenaline rush, during this daring game with gravity. This work is an intent to capture the sense of liberation that comes with pushing boundaries and living for the moment, amidst the everyday struggles of living inside the favela. 15% of the sale will be donated to a social project of an Institute that Lisbeth has personally visited and worked with, teaching children in the "City of God" favela Skateboarding, Photography and Capoeira.
