About the artwork
Deconstructing Primavera: A Dialogue Between Eras
Sandro Botticelli’s Primavera has long been a symbol of artistic mastery, mythology, and the delicate dance between nature and human expression. Its harmony, fluidity, and layered symbolism have been a foundation for my latest work—an abstract deconstruction that reimagines the Renaissance classic through the lens of contemporary creation.
Chaotic_spring.mp4, created specially for Primavera Digitale 2025, a week long festival celebrating digital art in Florence, I wanted to pull apart the structured elegance of the original and reconstruct it through the lens of contemporary techniques, where the fluidity of AI, 3D, digital, and physical painting converge.
The result is a heavy layered, expressive work where movement and form dissolve into abstraction.I explored how classical themes can be reinterpreted using today’s tools. Each stroke and fragmented form challenges the notion of preservation—how does a piece like Primavera evolve in an era of generative technology and immersive screens?
This piece exists between worlds—digital and physical, past and present. Displayed on a screen, hugely projected or even printed, it takes on a new dynamic, shifting under light and movement much like Primavera once captivated the eyes of Renaissance viewers. It is not a destruction but a rebirth, a reinterpretation of classical beauty through modern tools. Just as Botticelli depicted an eternal spring, this work explores how art continuously evolves, shaped by the hands of both tradition and innovation.
